excite the enzymes

Went groceries shopping last night before heading home and encountered something very interesting... fruit enzymes.

As we all know enzymes are released in our body to aid digestion and etc (google it coz the definition is just too long to list down...), food that we eat these days are either overcooked, contaminated or completely depleted of enzymes for whatever the reason therefore we need to replenish our lack of it.

After being told the benefits, I bought two variants - the beetroot/papaya for blood regeneration and lime for digestion and to ward of common cough and cold. I am such a sucker with anything organic and healthy...

I went home excited about my new purchase and immediately went to action. I made a drink for my husband (he nearly spat out his first sip but after cajoling and highlighting all the benefits, he gulped it all down). The taste was no where near what the store personnel said. Whateverlah; as long as it is beneficial for our bodies.

Maybe it was all the excitement and hoo hahs... my husband went to the loo after just 30minutes of consuming the drink... which made me wonder... did it actually aid digestion so quickly that 30 mins was all it took???

Go figure. My mum will testify about the beetroot/papaya concoction soon.

Cheers

have heavenly

Visited Just Heavenly Pleasures recently at Damansara Heights a couple of days ago. If you are thinking of having cake over a cup of coffee there, if would be difficult coz they ain't have any chairs... but you can have a cuppa at Chef and Brew which is just across the room.

Anyway, we were greeted by a glass counter lined with just the most yummylicious cakes and pastries. We ended up with Rum Balls, Banana Cream Pie, Eclairs, Passion Fruit Cheesecake and the Sticky Butterscotch.

Verdict :

rum balls - explosive strong rum taste sweetness level perfect texture and crumblebility good

banana cream pie - biscuit base was good and complements the light creme fraise and banana

eclairs - good light chocolate cream fresh

passion fruit cheesecake - THE WINNER!!! light tangy fantastic

sticky butterscotch - CLOSE RUNNER-UP!!! great combination cake texture

All in all the experience was great especially sharing them with my colleagues and my husband (only sticky butterscotch).

I WILL BE BACK!!!

soto forever

This is my second time at this soto place at Kota Damansara called DE-5, 'delima' is actually how you say it... of you were wondering.

This yummy Malay restaurant serves Nasi Campur with a relatively large variety of lauk such as frilled ikan pari/stingray in banana leaf, ikan cincaru, fried chicken (which I was told was WICKED) but the highlight for me at this restaurant is the unexplainable, stupendous, hair-raising chilli padi kicap accompanied by the spiced soup with vermicelli with sliver of chicken, beansprouts and peanuts go figure)...

The combination is EXPLOSIVE!!!

The is something very simple about this noodle soup yet the taste sends your heart racing, virtually thinking about it day and night... well I did.

Soto Ayam is usually accompanied by pergedil which is a Javanese name for potato cutlet. Those sold at DE-5 is simply delicious.

We brought some colleagues to check the place out today and looks like it has just made the 'MUST GO FOR LUNCH' list!!!

something asmara

After taking a few days off work last week and extended my weekend, I came back to work thinking I would be rejuvenated but it did not quite happen.

Anyway, all I was looking forward the moment I stepped into the office was what I would be having for lunch. At 12.30pm, we left the office to fill our stomach. Since it was my colleague's birthday, we decided to check out a new place today... something Asmara.

Situated at Desa Penchala (Malay Reserve Land), the restaurant resembles a Balinese Spa with ample space, recessed, elevated and the whole pond-thing and zen-like surrounding. There are many villas making up the cafe, restaurant, bar and the function space complete with an alfresco area and of course an airconditioned area.

We had lunch at the dining area and since we were the only ones, we created quite a havoc!!! Since they only served buffet for lunch, we have no choice. The food wasn't great except for the fish dish, prawn thingy and the assam laksa. The rest were just mediocre. Price per person was RM25nett.

But all in all, as I keep insisting, it is the company that is most important and yes,the food and ambience do matter but it is not everything...

May come back to dine with husband in the future but that's simply because of the distance from home.

Btw, don't know why they call it asmara??? Not quite suitable but really, who cares.

Night at the Museum

To celebrate this year's Mother's Day, my husband and I decided to take our respective parents and in-laws to the Museum, the Chinese restaurant at the Legend Hotel. He loved the cod the last time we dined there and was kinda craving for it.

We arrived at 7pm after quite a pleasant ride into town. Lo and behold we were the only table at the entire restaurant thus having 3 waitresses waiting on us throughout the night (luckily close to when we were almost done, another family came to occupy another table).

We ordered the Teriyaki Cod (4pcs) which was very nice and very fresh, Kung Pao Chicken (bite sized chicken fried with ried chilli and cashew nuts - my sis-in-law's fav meat dish) was very good, Straw Mushroom in deep fried with Salt and Pepper was too stringy, they should have bundled them and then deep fry, but... plus two other vege dishes which were non-descript and lacking in taste.

We had an OK chocolate for dessert. Wanted to try this yam dessert but was told that the mixture that day was not done up to standard so was not available. Go figure...

Anyway, though the food was not great, the company was. Enjoyable? Most definitely. All in all, the night at the museum was great.

fair ball

I am in quite a predicament of late.

I have to choose between watching 'My Fair Lady' or the FA Cup final with my husband; both on the same day and overlapping time, sigh... Though MFL is not my all time favourite, I am drawn to it simply because we have really fantastic tickets and wouldn't it be great just to be able to sit through the entire show singing along to the songs... and YES, they are great seats!!!

On the other hand, my conscience will go on an overdrive if I were to deprive my husband from watching the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Man U (woohoo... champions... THE BEST!). Not only is this game going to make way for Man U to add another silverware to their winnings this year but my husband, who is THE Man U fan(atic) in the observerable universe needs to be there to witness this momentous occassion. (Btw, he reminded me just a few weeks ago about the glorious day when Man U won the treable in 1999 and how he stood on the bar stool and rejoiced!).

Shall I be selfish or should I make one man REALLY, REALLY HAPPY?

fu yoh!!!

The kickboxing session yesterday was exhilarating! Very tiring but a good feeling of achievement when you are drenched in sweat and too tired to swear. Btw, my colleague IRA was there for a trial class and it was great for her too. Now we plan to go every Tuesday and Thursday. Looks good on paper but you know lah what actally happens in reality...

IRA looked good drenched in sweat according to Master K ...

green with envy

The weather this morning was simply torturing. The morning shower and the 20-something degrees weather was perfect for a sleep in... No such luck!

Anyway, I went home for lunch this afternoon and had to use my brolly to stay dry. My brolly is GREEN with a HUGE IMAGE of a FROG on it. And upon arriving at the front door, I saw my hyperactive and so adorable Daisy, my beagle. But instead of the usual meet and greet from her, she went straight to the brolly to stare at the FROG!!! Like she saw her comrade. So CUTE lah!

Anyway, the moral of the story is -
Creatures GREAT and SMALL should NEVER
be UNDERESTIMATED for their level of intelligence. (she is one smart dog) & There is INFINITE BEAUTY in EVERYTHING around us...

ps - Dragging my feet to kickboxing after an absence of 6 weeks; it's gonna be tough.

ciao.

After a 1 month hiatus, I am finally back in action.

No, I wasn't suffering from writers' block, actually I was too bogged down with work to even think about updating my blog. Bad. Very bad. I am to change. For the better.
Tomorrow.
